BIOGRAPHY

Soprano Emma Moore, 22, is currently undertaking an Advanced Diploma of Opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, having completed a Bachelor of Music Performance, First Class Honours in 2009. She is a student of Maree Ryan, and has been the recipient of a number of scholarships during her time at the Conservatorium, including The Helen Myers Vocal Scholarship, The Women’s College Music Scholarship and The University of Sydney Entrance Scholarship.

Emma is an experienced Soprano Soloist, having a repertoire of many works, including Faure's Requiem, the Coronation and C Minor Masses of Mozart, Vivaldi's Gloria, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, the Niccolai and Creation Masses of Haydn and After Campion by Carl Vine. She has performed with such ensembles as The Sydney Conservatorium Choir, Choir of Christ Church St Lawrence with Dr Neil McEwan, Sydney University Madrigal Society, The Manly Warringah Choir ∓ Orchestra, and The Wollongong Symphony Orchestra. Emma is also an accomplished recitalist, having performed for the Joan Sutherland Society of Sydney, The Sydney Schubert Society, The Sydney University Opera Company and the Sydney Wagner Society. She has been broadcast on both ABC Classic FM and 2MBS FM.

Emma was the 2008 Winner of the Dame Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Scholarship within the Sydney Performing Arts Challenge, for which the panel included Maestro Bonynge himself. In 2009 she was the Winner of the 2MBS-FM Young Performers Award, and a Finalist in the MBS National Young Performer of the Year Award.

Her operatic roles to date include Dido – Dido ∓ Aeneas (Purcell), for Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Miss Jessel – The Turn of the Screw (Britten), for Sydney University Opera Company, and Idolatria in an extremely rare and authentically staged Prologo by Alessandro Scarlatti for Sydney Conservatorium.

Emma’s passion for Opera began at age 11, as a member of the Children’s Chorus for Opera Australia’s 1999 production of Turandot. She has a great love of performing and hopes to continue her studies overseas in the future.
