Welcome to the Joan Sutherland Society website. The aim of this non-profit organisation for the past 33years has been to raise money to help assist our most talented young opera singers fulfil their given potential. As we move into a new phase we also hope to sponsor other projects like recordings of Australian works featuring Australian artists. One such venture is the planned first ever recording of Peggy Glanville Hicks' opera "Sappho" due to be recorded in 2013 by the Australian conductor Jennifer Condon with Australian baritone Laurence Meikle and international greats, Deborah Polaski and Sir John Tomlinson as part of the international cast.
We are delighted to also announce that all donations to our public fund, the Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Opera Foundation, are now tax deductible with a full list of donors under our donation page. With time we hope to evolve, strengthen and grow, securing our place within the Arts community as a significant fund raising organisation. This evolutionary process will help us to focus our energies and revenue where it is most needed, for our most talented artists.
We hope you will join us on this exciting journey, encourage your friends to be involved and most of all, enjoy supporting our next generation of opera singers.

We are seeking major sponsors for our 2012 Bel Canto Award. All donor patrons will be acknowledged in the 2012 Bel Canto Programme.
Why not help sponsor our young singers and be a part of history in the making.
George Henry Hubert Lascelles was born in London on 07 Feb 1923, the son of Henry, Viscount Lascelles & Princess Mary, only daughter of King George V & Queen Mary. He was a first cousin to Queen Elizabeth II.
For many years now it has been our very great pleasure to patronise and support The Joan Sutherland Society of Sydney. Since its inception in 1978, a small group of dedicated opera supporters has worked tirelessly to provide performance opportunities and much needed financial assistance in the form of scholarships and grants, helping inspire and nurture many of our young Australian opera singers to establish their careers.
Over the years we have been fortunate enough to attend a number of Fund-raising concerts and events presented by the Society which have highlighted the development and growth of many of our favourite artists.
