CONGRATULATIONS to 2008 Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Vocal Scholarship winner EMMA MOORE who has won the 2010 McDonald's Operatic Aria singing arias from Linda di Chamounix and Romeo et Juliette. Emma recently made an auspicious debut singing "Miss Jessel" in Sydney University Opera Company’s production of The Turn of the Screw. She was joined by fellow JSS winner ANGELA BRUN who came second singing Zerbinetta's Aria from Ariadne auf Naxos and Lucia's Act 1 Aria from Lucia di Lammermmor. Adjudicators, John Bolton Wood, Christine Beasley and Michael Black were joined on stage at the end of the evening by guest of honour, Maestro Richard Bonynge who announced the winners. Emma wins prizes to the value of $43,000, Angela a $5000 award toward her future studies in Vienna. Five days later on 20 August EMMA won the $10,000 first prize and Audience vote in the Opera and Arts Support Group Award, also part of the Sydney Eisteddfod, with 2010 JSS Scholarship winner, HADLEIGH ADAMS winning the $3,000 second prize. Congratulations to both Emma and Hadleigh on a superb season of singing. |
